Day Manager

You are ultimately accountable for the overall performance of the day time operation of the shop ensuring all runs smoothly with the team, good stock management and keeping to our high standards of customer service and will be reporting directly to the retail manager. This is a highly collaborative role and you will work with other managers to ensure the day to day operation of your location.

Your main responsibilities:

Overall responsibilities:

  • Run shifts and ensure smooth operations when you are the most senior member of staff on the day.
  • Front of house duties, barista management, stock control, tracking food wastage, overall customer experience, safety/compliance.
  • Ensure successful running of the shop.
  • Represent the shop professionally
  • Shop floor management: staffing, quality and service maintenance
  • Managing and timing breaks on shift when the manager isn’t present
  • Lead and motivate a team of baristas, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring that drinks are all served in a timely manner and we keep to our high standards.
  • Managing stations - placing and shifting team members around as needed based on skillset to ensure speed of service and efficiency, working with lead batista(s)
  • Ensuring the shop is stocked up and clean, proactively use checklist and ensure they are completed by the teams on shift.
  • Conducting training that is focusing on customer service, and health and safety procedures.
  • Manage baritas performance and share any positive or negative performance with senior management
  • Working with the Head chef and supporting the chef in the kitchen to ensure that food is delivered promptly and to high standards
  • Resolve customer concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain the shop’s cleanliness and hygiene standards, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

  • Ensuring stock, quality and service standards are maintained
  • Keep a close eye on stock levels, update the stock management sheet and report to the manager when items are running low.
  • Matain standing orders and adjust as and when required. This includes pastries, milk, stores supply and non consumable goods.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies, maintaining stock levels, and minimizing waste. Keep track of daily food waste using tracking sheets, ensure team are filling this out.

Ongoing responsibilities

  • To be flexible and available to meet the needs of the business at shorter periods of time.
  • Communicating information to the wider team, face to face and via Slack.
  • Not essential but offer any opportunities to share insights and ideas on how best to improve shop experience/running

The Site Manager role will also be strategic by helping identify new initiatives that drive the shop’s financial performance. Contribute new, innovative ideas to drive revenue and pitch any ideas to senior managers.

  • Share promotional ideas to drive footfall and increase customer order value. e.g. social media, web, local promotion.

The above is also complementary with welcoming guests, making coffee, operating the till, taking orders and ensuring that the shop remains a pleasant place to be.
